I am an HCPC-registered psychologist, offering individual therapy to adults and adolescents. I use a range of contemporary and evidence-based therapeutic methods within a person-centred approach. Therapy is most effective when it takes place within a warm, respectful and non-judgmental relationship, creating a strong sense of psychological safety. Meaningful therapeutic work can only unfold when a person feels and experiences this safety at a deep level. For this reason, I am intentional about creating and holding a relational space like this for each person that I work with.
Alongside my clinical practice, I am also a Brainspotting consultant, providing consultation and supervision to therapists training in this t transformative modality.
I am particularly mindful of offering a gentle, respectful, and supportive therapeutic environment for people who may find seeking help especially difficult, including:
-
People who feel emotionally overwhelmed or distressed, but find vulnerability or opening up difficult or unsafe
-
People who feel sceptical, cautious, or uncertain about therapy
-
People who have experienced trauma or feel emotionally fragile
-
People who fear they may be judged
My therapeutic work integrates a range of approaches, including Brainspotting, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Relational Pattern Analysis, and clinical hypnotherapy. I am a certified Brainspotting practitioner and consultant, as well as an internationally accredited hypnotherapist. The approach that underpins my application of any therapeutic technique is Person-Centred, or Rogerian, as I draw inspiration and influence from the work and philosophy of Carl Rogers.
My psychotherapeutic services and experience cover the following:
-
Therapy for adults and adolescents (12+) facing a wide variety of adjustment difficulties and anxiety and mood related difficulties
-
Therapy for trauma & treatment of PTSD, including sport trauma (injury rehab, performance blocks, abusive coaching), medical trauma (accidents, hospitalisation, surgery, having experienced life support)
-
Therapeutic interventions to assist with exam preparation, studying and/or exam anxiety – for secondary school or university students or professionals (e.g. CA / Law board exams, MBA etc)
-
Coaching for self-leadership, interpersonal effectiveness and building self-confidence (age 16 - 30)
More about me
I trained as a psychologist in Johannesburg, South Africa, where I worked in private practice and in school settings for 7 years before moving the UK. I have focused my professional development in the area of integrative psychotherapy. I have supported people in recovering various forms of trauma, including developmental and complex trauma, medical trauma and trauma from violent crime, including various forms of assault and domestic violence, as well as religious and spiritual trauma. I appreciate how intergenerational trauma and historical and current racial, ethnic and heteronormative oppression can add to the complexity of trauma treatment.
